Last night about 11pm we were getting ready for bed. I was taking my dogs outside for their last visit, and as I was talking to Sami (yes, I talk to my dogs) I reached down to pick up a leaf off the carpet just inside the door. When my hand was about a foot away from the leaf, I looked down and saw that it was not a leaf. Oh no. It was the biggest spider I HAVE EVER SEEN. I'm not kidding, it looked almost as big as a turantula.
I could hardly catch my breath as I attempted to yell to my husband - "Big...." "Spider!..." "Big Big!" "SPIDER!" "BIG SPIDER! BIG SPIDER!"
He comes running in the room and we promptly started running around - "shoe!" "Do you have a shoe?" "No!" "Where's a shoe?" "Shoe! Go get a shoe!" "Where's a shoe?" "Why are there no shoes?!?"
About that time, my daughter who had just went upstairs, came running down the stairs "Fire? Big Fire? Where's the BIG FIRE?"
I said "There's no FIRE! It's a BIG SPIDER!" And she's like "a spider? Just a spider? I thought you said FIRE! What's the big deal?"
"Big Deal?" I said!?! "Your mother almost got eaten by a BIG SPIDER!"
My heart is still pounding.
